Located in Orange, CA, Chapman is a perennial power in the USLIA—the organization governing the nation's collegiate club programs.
UC — Santa Barbara
One of the best locations for a college on earth, UCSB also boasts one of the top USILA lacrosse programs. Coached by LA Riptide Offensive Coordinator Mike Allan, the Gauchos have won two of the last three USLIA national championships.
Duke
The Blue Devils make their return to college lacrosse in 2007 under the direction of new Head Coach John Danowski. The Blue Devils return to San Diego in March for a re-match with Loyola College in the First Four.
Franklin & Marshall
The Diplomats were escorted to the national stage by Surf Dawg Director G.W. Mix during his 3-year tenure as head lacrosse and women's soccer coach. They remain a solid, competive Division III program.
Johns Hopkins
Surf Dawg Coaches Matt Bond and Jim Damon are both former Blue Jay players. Head Coach Dave Pietramala, a former assistant to Coach Mix at Penn, has returned the Blue Jay program to its traditional place among the nation's elite.
Johns Hopkins Lady Jays
The Lady Blue Jays are led by Head Coach Janine Tucker. Janine is the wife of LA Riptide Head Coach John Tucker. Under Janine's direction, the Lady Jays have developed into a perennial Top 10 Division I team.
LA Riptide
The LA Riptide are a 2006 addition to Major League Lacrosse. Playing throughout the summer at the Home Depot Center, the Riptide finished their inaugural campaign in fifth place overall in this ten team professional outdoor lacrosse league. The best lacrosse players in the world play in the MLL. The LA Riptide... dare to dive in.
Loyola College
Former Greyhound goalie Charlie Toomey leads the "east coast Dawgs" of Loyola College. A perennial Top 20 Division I team, Loyola travels to San Diego in March of 2007 for a re-match with the Duke Blue Devils in the First Four.
Navy
Head Coach Richie Meade has led an incredible emergence of the Midshipmen of Navy as a perennial Top 10 Division I power. Four former Naval Academy stars lead the LA Riptide: defenseman Sean Donnelly, midfielder Graham Gill, defenseman Mitch Hendler and Midfielder Chris Pieczonka
North Carolina
The Tar Heels are a favorite of Surf Dawg Director G.W. Mix. His childhood friend Joe Seivold was a four-time All-American middie with the Heels in the 80's and his high school friend and former UNC All-American defenseman John Haus serves as the school's head lacrosse coach.
Notre Dame
Always a favorite with lacrosse playing altar boys and nuns with sticks, the Fighting Irish have become a solid contender in Division I lacrosse. The LA Riptide selected Irish All-American defenseman DJ Driscoll with their first selection in the 2006 MLL collegiate draft.
Ohio State
Another personal favorite of Surf Dawg Director G.W. Mix, the Buckeyes are led by Joe Breschi. The Buckeyes compete with the best in Division I. Riptide standout midfielder Anthony Kelly played for Breschi prior to joining the 'Tide.
Pennsylvania
Coach Mix's alma mater. He played at Penn from 1979-82, coached there as an assistant from 1983-87 and as the head coach from 1991-94.
Princeton
In the past 16 seasons, Bill Tierney has led the Princeton Tigers to six National Championships and 13 Ivy League Titles. LA Riptide players Jason Buttles (Mid), Todd Eichelberger (Att/Mid), Lorne Smith (Att/Mid), Josh White (Att/Mid) all earned National Championship rings while playing at Princeton.
Rutgers
Coach Mix's dear friend and former Penn Teammate Jim Stagnitta has led the Rutgers program back among the elite programs in Division I lacrosse. While considered by many to be one of the nation's top coaches, Coach Stags only wishes he was as cool as Coach Mix.
South Carolina
The wildlife and collegiate club lacrosse program in South Carolina are just beginning to make a recovery after Surf Dawg Coach Mike Ortlieb spent his collegiate days (and nights) as a 'Cock in Columbia, South Carolina.
Southern California
The Trojans have never been as strong as they were back in the day when Surf Dawg Coach Bruce Molnar wore colors of Troy. A local team, competing in the USLIA.
Stanford
Surf Dawg Coach Andy Brooks is a former Stanford football and lacrosse standout. It was his size (and speed) that led the Cardinal athletics department to eventually settle on the tree as its mascot. Stanford competes in the USLIA.
Syracuse
One of the most exciting and dominant Division I lacrosse programs in the history of the sport. Home to some of the greatest and most creative players to ever wield a stick, including the legendary Jim Brown, Gary and Paul Gait, the Powell brothers - Casey, Ryan and Mikey, and many more...
Towson
Tony Seaman, Head Coach of the "Taggers" gave Coach Mix his start in coaching in 1983 when he was the man at the helm of the Penn Quakers. One of the most innovative minds in the game, Coach Seaman coached LA Riptide standouts Danny Cocchi and Spencer Ford, and currently works side by side with Riptide scoring machine Andrew "Buggs" Combs, who serves as his assistant at Towson. Surf Dawg Coach Mark Todd played for the Tigers... back in the day.
Virginia
The Virginia Cavaliers are a perennial powerhouse in college lacrosse. The 2006 Wahoos won the NCAA Division I National Championship and produced 2006 Tewaaraton Trophy winner Matt Ward (attack). Riptide stars Tillman Johnson (goalie) and Michael Watson (attack) are former greats for this ACC school, located in Charlottesville, VA.
Washington College
Located along the banks of the Chester River on the spectacular eastern shore of Maryland, Washington College is an annual participant in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. "Harvard on the Chester" continues to play one of the most challenging schedules in the country.
