Summer Skills Lacrosse Camp
Returns to Santa Barbara!
Thursday, June 29 - Sunday, July 2

June 29 - July 2  •  On the Campus of UC Santa Barbara

The Summer Skills Lacrosse Camp is a fun four-day lacrosse and leadership experience for boys who are completing the 5th-9th grade in the Spring of 2017.

Summer Skills is designed to be a throwback to the days when young players went off to camp for several days with a few friends and teammates to learn how to be better players. In addition to high level lacrosse instruction, campers will participate in a variety of activities designed to help improve their leadership skills, sense of community, and appreciation for the coastal environment in which they live.

Overnight participants will be housed and fed in the Tropicana Student Living Complex on the campus of UCSB. Local day campers are also welcome.

Round-trip motorcoach bus transportation is also available for participants traveling from Orange County.

The Summer Skills Lacrosse Camp Staff will consist of a number of current and former NCAA Division I players including Matt Kavanagh (Notre Dame), Brendan Fowler (Duke), from schools such as Brown, Denver, Drexel, Duke, Hofstra, Maryland, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Virginia and Yale. Several college coaches, and a few current Major League Lacrosse players, will join the staff at various times throughout the week.

Summer Skills Lacrosse Camp is under the direction of G.W. Mix. Coach Mix has more than 30 years of professional experience in the sport of lacrosse. A former NCAA Division I player, he has been a collegiate head coach at the University of Pennsylvania (NCAA Divsion I, Ivy League) and Franklin and Marshall College (NCAA Division III) and was named NCAA National Coach of the Year. More recently, Mix has served the sport as president and general manager of the MLL's L.A. Riptide (2005-2008), executive director of the Pacific Coast Shootout, and the head coach at Corona del Mar High School, where his teams have compiled a 144-18 record (.888%) since 2010. Players in his program have gone on to play Division I lacrosse at Brown, Cleveland State, Denver, Drexel, Holy Cross (2), Lehigh, Loyola, Notre Dame (2), Rutgers, and Yale (2), while others have played in the MCLA at Chapman, Colorado, Indiana, LMU, San Diego State, Tulane, UCSB and USC.
