Sea Kings earn top seed in 2013 CIF playoffs

CDM earned the top seed in the 2013 CIF Southern Section Orange County tournament.
For the third time in four years, Corona del Mar earned the top seed in the US Lacrosse CIF Southern Section boys lacrosse tournament. The Kings will host Dana Hills (11-5) in the opening round on Tuesday at 5:15 PM.

"We are honored to have been selected as the top seed," commented CDM head coach G.W. Mix. "There are a number of very good teams in the tournament and earning the top seed is helpful."

CDM was the top seed in 2010 and again in 2012 when it went on to win its first CIF Southern Section Championship.

The last time CDM faced Dana Hills was in 2006, when the Kings (12-6) fell to the Dolphins (11-1) 17-16 in overtime. Dana Hills finished that season 11-1, ranked fourth in the Southern Section.

This season, the Kings and Dolphins share just two common opponents: Beckman and Amador Valley. CDM defeated Beckman 13-6, while Dana Hills fell to the Patriots yesterday 14-13 in overtime. Both teams beat Amador Valley. Dana Hills defeated the Dons at home on April 5th 10-7, while CDM won their match-up 15-4 in a game in northern California on April 16th.

Should the Kings advance past Dana Hills, they will face the winner of the Beckman (12-4) vs. Los Alamitos (11-6) game on Thursday, May 2 at 5:15 PM at CDM.
